Time To Go

I’m standing at the platform watching the trains pass each other

And I’m too scared to board any of them, even when they slow down

And open their doors to me

I slept okay, I just woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep

I’m standing at the pier, watching the ferries pass each other

And I’m too scared to board any of them, even when the ropes

Are tied to the posts, docked and waiting

I have therapy, I will be picking a chicken, planning meals for the week, and homework

I’m standing on the tarmac, watching the planes pass each other

And I’m too scared to board them, even when the chalks are out

And they sit at the terminal with the stairs down

I love your show, and I think your new book is great

I’m taking my walking stick and following this path

I’m scared but I am putting steps and turning into miles

My boots crunch the snow and the trees murmur

It’s time to go, and I thank you all for your efforts, goodbye
