Spring

Roots burrow deeper into the dirt

Leaves surface and then unfurl

Grass resumes its coat of green

As insects crawl both seen and unseen

Birdsong arouses the sleepy eyes

As rain and then sun arise

Forsaking another hour of rest

The animals shift to an air of zest

To feed, to breed, to fate, to mate

To defend and to orchestrate

The wonders of life drift upon

To spring forth and to carry on

The flowers push forth and deliver

Scents and colors to the giver

Of pollen and feaster of nectar

So spring starts again, in an hour forever
