Parts

Oatmeal sky turns to azure

As the fog recedes its course

And I stand outside the church

I don’t mean to take anyone’s time

But I want to be recognized

As having some meaning

Where do my footsteps turn?

I want to be a part of it

But other people depend on me

I feel melancholy and alone

I want to get into things

But I don’t know where I stand

I walk to the car

Where someone waits for me

I exit this stage and enter another

Another stage of different roles

Waiting for my part to begin

I exhale quietly and take my measure
