Memories

They fade so quickly

Like roses in the fall

Turned brown and forgotten

I strain to recall

Others come unbidden

And are certainly mean

They puncture and dwell

As I silently scream

Some are lush and lovely

Others harshly cruel

Memories are swirling

As a subconscious tool

And dare I dream upon them

Or come shivering at night

What can be put down on them

In fear or in delight
