Wedding

It was all a dream,

And yet not a dream.

Butterflies in silver

Fluttered on my head.

My dear friend curled

And sprayed my hair.

My dress was heavy

Yet I moved lightly.

Large bunch of flowers

That I barely remember

I held in sturdy hands,

Trying not to cry

Or to laugh.

Standing in front

Facing the man

While another spoke

The magic words.

Bands of white gold

And diamonds

Slipped onto fingers.

And it was done,

Yet it wasn’t.

There flowed more and more

Laughter and smiles

Everyone had fun

That was all I could recall.

I have photographs to remind me

But I don’t look at them

It was love and happiness

Spread around like bubbles.
