Persephone wades through the beaten grass

Her eyes stinging from the cold

She has yet to behold her beloved

Rising up and cracking through the snow

Oh light that is now reborn

Has yet to hold her gloved hands

She wades through the forgotten woods

Seeking her love not yet in command

She carries on the yearning flame

She basks in the early twilight

She sighs and frosty wind blows

As they whisk her harshly into the night

Persephone will no longer wait

She delves into the frozen ground

Coaxing the sleeping seeds to awake

And she lays for spring to abound
