Carolina was prosperous
Though she had no money
For wine and cheap lipstick
She was rich on the inside
Her mind was full of diamonds
And her heart was pure platinum
Everywhere she went
People told her of their problems
And she listened
And a diamond would spill out of her mouth
And they took it
She never got any back
But that was okay
Because she always had more
She created them herself
She loved everything and everyone
Even the ones who took advantage of her
Even the ones who hated her
Because she knew she could’ve been them
So she trundled down the street
In her jeans and faded T-shirt
With dirty sneakers and no makeup
Wavy hair like the ocean
But she felt like the Treasury
Because she was a jewel all her own.
